A new book by acclaimed Kurdish poet Kawa Nemir titled “A Conversation with Arjen Ari in Panos” has been published by Avesta Publishing House. The work is an epic poetry journey written between 2012 and 2019, featuring illustrations by artist Şener Ozmen.
The Book Chronicles a Journey of Two Kurdish Poets
The collection is not merely a poetic travelogue of two Kurmanji poets, but also embodies one poet’s respect for another master poet who advanced the Kurdish language. Throughout the book, Nemir incorporates numerous historical names and events that emerge during their journey.
Panos Selected as the Meeting Place
“A Conversation with Arjen Ari in Panos” follows a journey toward Panos in Qerekilisa, Northern Kurdistan, where two renowned Kurmanji poets travel together. One has become part of Kurdistan’s soil, while the other remains outside his homeland.
The Work Adds to Kurdish Poetry Heritage
The book presents poetry samples such as:
“Among the trees where black-winged crows nest,
At dawn they fly in flocks,
Sounds like scissors, cutting the blue cloth of emptiness,
Placing it on gray hills with thorns”
