DAMASCUS — The Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have announced a ceasefire as part of a comprehensive agreement to stabilize the country. Both parties have reached a consensus on the gradual integration of military and administrative structures. According to official statements from the SDF and government sources, active hostilities have ceased, and a phased integration process has been initiated.
Security forces enter urban centers
Under the terms of the signed agreement, military units will withdraw from established lines of contact. Security forces under the Ministry of Interior of the Syrian Arab Republic are set to enter the city centers of Hasakah and Qamishli. This initial step is defined as a move to strengthen regional stability and begin the consolidation of security apparatuses to ensure the rule of law is applied in these areas.
Formation of new divisions and brigades
The military transition includes the formation of a new army division composed of three existing SDF brigades. Furthermore, the Kobani forces will be reorganized as a distinct brigade operating under a division based in the Aleppo Governorate. The agreement extends beyond military cooperation; institutions of the Autonomous Administration will integrate with Syrian state institutions, while the existing cadres of civil servants will retain their positions and status.
Kurdish rights and refugee repatriation
The agreement explicitly addresses the regulation of civil and educational rights for the Kurdish community. Additionally, both sides have committed to guaranteeing the safe return of displaced persons to their home regions. Authorities emphasized that the primary objective of this pact is to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and foster joint cooperation for the country’s reconstruction in the future.
