Kurdish Publisher DOZ Expands Catalog With Three Diverse Titles

20/03/2025

DOZ Publishing, a cornerstone institution in Kurdish literature, has simultaneously released three works spanning fiction, political analysis and historical scholarship, reinforcing its position as a cultural repository for Kurdish studies.

The three publications—a novel, a collection of political essays and a reissued scholarly text—represent the publisher’s commitment to multifaceted engagement with Kurdish identity and history.

“Serdema Bêbext” (“The Era of Betrayal”) by author Silêman Demir explores the 2015-16 conflict’s impact on village communities in Northern Kurdistan. The narrative provides a ground-level perspective on how political upheaval transforms civilian life.

“Our fate has taken the path of destruction before our eyes,” reads one passage from Demir’s work. “Everything that exists for society has become targets in these supposed conflicts for our homeland.”

Equally significant is “Pirsgirêka Kurd an Pirsgirêka Kurdistanê 2” (“The Kurdish Question or the Kurdistan Question 2”), which compiles recent writings by politician Fuad Onen. The collection emphasizes strategic adaptation in Kurdish political thought.

“We cannot close our eyes to the changes in the world,” Onen argues in the text. “The world has changed, and we must change with it. If we don’t adjust our strategy, we will fall behind and remain stateless.”

Completing the trilogy of releases is the third edition of “20. Yüzyılın Başlarında Kürt Siyasası ve Modernizm” (“Kurdish Politics and Modernism at the Beginning of the 20th Century”). Political philosopher Hasan Yıldız’s work, now in its third printing, examines the emergence of modern Kurdish political identity during a transformative historical period.

The reissue of Yıldız’s text suggests its enduring relevance to contemporary discussions of Kurdish politics and cultural identity.

DOZ Publishing, established as one of the pioneering Kurdish publishing houses, continues to build a literary archive that documents Kurdish perspectives across genres and generations. Readers seeking more information about these publications can visit the publisher’s official website.
