About the book

Barbara Harlow’s “Literature of Resistance,” first published in 1987, is considered one of the foundational works in postcolonial literary studies. This book was translated by Umran Aran and Yusiv Hemed and published by Pall Publishing in March 2025.

Harlow, who was born in 1948 and died in 2017, analyzes the role of literature in liberation movements of the third world during the 20th century in this work. The book, which examines a body of writings, opened the way for many important discussions in the field of literature and anti-colonial resistance after its publication.
