Babacan: We will remove the obstacle to mother tongue education

The Chairman of the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA) Ali Babacan announced the party’s program for 2023.

Babacan stated that they will legally remove the obstacle to mother tongue education so that everyone can receive education in their own language.

Babacan said that all citizens living in Turkey are equal and their rights should be equal.

DEVA was established in March 2020 under the leadership of Ali Babacan and has 1 representative in the 600-seat assembly.

CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

Article 42:

No language other than Turkish shall be taught as a mother
tongue to Turkish citizens at any institution of education.
Foreign languages to be taught in institutions of education and
the rules to be followed by schools conducting education in a
foreign language shall be determined by law. The provisions of
international treaties are reserved.
